How It Works

Highlights

  All documents are generated on our web server and are delivered instantly to your PC in MS Word rich text format (rtf).

  All government forms are delivered instantly in PDF format.

  All you need is an internet connection and the appropriate software that can read rich text format files and Adobe Acrobat pdf files - absolutely no other software must be purchased or downloaded.

  Since all documents are provided in electronic format, they may be saved on your computer system and/or delivered to your client electronically.

Features

  Intuitive design. Even though web site navigation, checklist completion and form completion was designed to be completely intuitive, we provide complete on-line documentation. Many users have told us that they have successfully used the system without consulting any documentation.

  Work anywhere. You may use/generate all products offered on this site from any PC with internet access via a browser.

  Software manuals. All documentation is kept on-line in the form of context-sensitive help. This relieves you of the burden of filing/updating software documentation manuals.

  Branding. All of the documents, software, processes, etc. are protected by copyright law. However, you may label the documents with your firm name. If you choose this option, you only need to set-up your company name in your user profile and your name will automatically appear in the appropriate places on each applicable document.*

  Privacy. Review our Privacy Statement.

  Unequalled customer assistance. We will respond the same day if we receive your e-mail request for assistance by 3:00PM Eastern Time.

  Custom services available. Feel free to contact us about any custom services that may be useful to you.

  Data conversion. Contact us for information regarding converting data from your current recordkeeping/document generation system.

* The IRS opinion letters will reflect Fort William LLC as the sponsor of the prototype/volume submitter plans and the IRS-required language preceding the signature line on the prototype documents will also contain our name and address. In addition, a representative from Fort William LLC will also appear on the form 2848 (power of attorney) for each volume submitter document that is submitted for favorable letter.

    *If MS Word is not running (Consent Action) or Acrobat Reader is not running (2848) at the time of the download, the download will be delayed until the appropriate application is started. Any subsequent download should occur instantaneously.

Security

  All checklist information and all documents and forms are transmitted over a secure internet connection using 128 bit encryption.

Users/Passwords

The administrative user (the person who completes the sign-up form and is e-mailed the initial password) may allow up to four additional users to access the web site. Each additional user may be assigned one of three access levels.

  Full access allows access to all materials on the site except the ability to change billing information and to assign or change passwords.

  Edit-only access allows users to modify checklist answers, form entries and print any document offered on the site.

  View-only access does not allow the user to modify any data but does permit the user to view and print all items except plan documents/adoption agreements.

Plan Document Generation Package

  High quality documents. View sample language from our plan documents and checklists by clicking on the appropriate link below. Please note that these samples are in PDF format. An actual document generated on our servers would be delivered in rtf format and would be opened immediately in Microsoft Word. The 401(k) volume submitter document was generated using the checklist listed below. The checklists for the adoption agreements are blank checklists. In actual practice, the checklists would be completed on-line in your web browser. Each online checklist looks virtually identical to the sample printed checklists listed below.

  Integrated. All features were designed from the ground up to work in an integrated fashion using a consistent user interface. Our checklists follow a uniform format that remains virtually identical regardless of the document to be generated. The on-line checklist for our volume submitter document is virtually identical to the on-line checklist for our prototype document. Our checklists are numbered in the same manner as our prototype adoption agreements which eliminates any confusion as to how a checklist answer will be reflected in the adoption agreement. In addition, you may periodically update the IRS forms (if purchased) with information from the checklist responses.

  Help. Nearly every checklist question provides instant context-sensitive help. This help feature provides instant access to relevant language in the plan document (volume submitter), adoption agreement and basic plan document (prototype). If you are still not comfortable with completing a checklist item, you may e-mail one of our experts and receive an answer either by phone, or where appropriate, via e-mail.

  Extensive on-line error correction. While we cannot guarantee that each combination of checklist responses will result in the plan that meets the qualification requirements of the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA, our on-line error correction will identify all required responses and will highlight most conflicting responses.

  Streamlined data entry. When entering data, items for which no entry is required will appear shaded and will not allow data entry. For example, if matching contributions are not allowed in a 401(k) plan, all questions dealing with matching contributions will be shaded. The information for a shaded item will be maintained on the system but not used to generate a checklist or document.

  Custom Language. Since the documents are delivered in rtf format, you may perform extensive customization of each document. Each checklist allows you to enter and retain on-line all custom language.

  Default checklists. Each type of plan has a default checklist that is used to provide the initial answers to all checklist answers for new plans. You may modify the default checklist for each type of plan to provide standard provisions you typically include in each type of plan document.

  Easy access to plan information. You may download selected plan data in Excel-compatible format to use in a mail merge or in your recordkeeping system. Common data elements (e.g., plan name, company name, address, etc.) and five user-defined fields are available for download. The downloaded data may be used as a mail merge file for creating client mailings or may be used in spreadsheet format for helping you manage your practice.

5500 Forms Package

  Integrated. All features were designed from the ground up to work in an integrated fashion using a consistent user interface. Data from the previous year's forms are automatically transferred to the current year.

  Automatic data import. When you add a form 5500 schedule, the system will first check whether you have entered copies of this schedule for any prior year. If so, it will copy the data for all of the schedules of the same type for the most recent year.

  Help. Each line item on each government form with official instructions provides instant context-sensitive help. If you are still not comfortable with completing a line item, you may e-mail one of our experts and receive an answer either by phone, or where appropriate, via e-mail.

  Extensive on-line error correction. Our on-line error correction will identify all required responses and will highlight most inconsistent responses.

IRS/PBGC Forms Package

  Integrated. All features were designed from the ground up to work in an integrated fashion using a consistent user interface. You may periodically update the IRS forms with information from the checklist responses (if you have purchased the plan document package).

  IRS representatives. Information for each IRS representative is kept in a central location so that it is not necessary to enter this information each time a new form is prepared. Once an IRS representative has been added to the central location, you may import all of that representative's information by clicking on a drop-down box on the appropriate form. All forms will be automatically updated any time information about the IRS representative is updated in the central location.

  Global updates. When you update a field that common to other forms (such as EIN), the corresponding field for the other IRS forms is updated as well.
